Yes, We're Still Here!

Its been a pretty hectic year for the both of us with Sara receiving her designation as a CA and I welcoming a new little bambina into the world so please please forgive us for not updating our blog as much as we'd like!

With me being on maternity leave since June, Sara's been a busy little bee taking on all kinds of cakes from weddings to birthdays, please visit our website to take a look at some updated photos!

stenciling 101

this week, we tried our luck at our first stencil cake for a damask-themed cake for Sarah and Mike's wedding

we're always happy to expand our repertoire and do something we've never tried before, so we were thrilled when Sarah approached us with the concept for her cake

the challenge with a stencil is that you pretty much only get one shot to get it right each time you do it, so you can imagine that there very first try (especially using black icing) was a bit of a nerve wracking experience

that said, here was the result of try number one:

not too shabby, eh? so with renewed confidence, we proceeded with the other layers...

...and ended up with this final product, which we loved!

Congratulations to Sarah and Mike on their big day and thanks for giving us the opportunity to do something new and fun!

Fit for a Princess - or Two!

We received a request to create some cookies and cupcakes for twin girls turning 5 this weekend -twin princesses to be exact! All of the cupcakes were made a french vanilla flavor with purple and pink vanilla buttercream and the cookies were a delightful sugar cookie with royal icing and sprinkles.

Something special needed to be made for each of the birthday girls so we made them their own mini cakes complete with a birthday greeting wand!








Finally, some wand shaped cookies as parting gifts for the lovely guests! Tags were made by these girls' mum so we bagged up the cookies and attached the cutely phrased tag to each cookie.

DYC @ Baker's Market Vancouver

Deliciously Yours Cakes will be participating at the weekly bakers market on Saturday, May 8th, 2010..the day before Mother's day! It's perfect place to bring your mum and try out some yummy sweets from local bakers including us!

Wedding Feature: Danielle & David Valentine

Vintage romance was the theme for this lovely couple's "I-Do"s and Deliciously Yours Cakes was more than happy to be a part of such a unique wedding. Held at Vancouver's cozy Heritage Hall, this afternoon affair was nothing short of creative, with their guest sign in table complete with a vintage typewriter and some neat accents.

Each guest was invited to seat themselves at the reception tables decorated with bouquets of flowers in varying sizes as well as little pouches of mini-eggs as parting gifts.


As for the cake, simple and elegant was the inspiration for it, so to tie this in with the vintage feel of the day, we used our mini white cake pedestal. French vanilla cake was the winner during our cake consult so we made a 6" round paired with french vanilla buttercream.
